Μήπως όµως το όνοµα της νέας του συζύγου κουβαλά µια σκοτεινή µοίρα; ¶ραγε υπάρχει ελπίδα να αλλάξει το πεπρωµένο; Θα καταφέρει η Μάντριγκαλ να ξυπνήσει την αγάπη στην καρδιά του άντρα και βασιλιά της; Κι εκείνος θα είναι σε θέση να αναγνωρίσει και να αποδεχτεί τα αισθήµατά του πριν χάσει τα πάντα για άλλη µια φορά;

INTERVIEW WITH PREMIERE MAGAZINE (FRANCE)

Translation:

Première: This is it, it's the end. Our last interview for 'Twilight'. Looking back how did this experience changed you as an actor and as a person?
RP: It's hard to say ... I'm trying to see how this journey fits in the plans I made when I started at 17. At that time, I had a specific idea of what I wanted to be when I reached 32. The path might not be the one I imagined but I have a feeling I'm still going in the right direction. It's funny how things go, I never thought something like 'Twilight' could happen to me. In any case, I'm very excited for what's to come. The plus when you're part of such a cultural phenomenon is that it makes each of your choice more exciting because you know many people are interested in them, and are waiting to know about your next project.
If you make a great movie that nobody sees it doesn't matter. Well, no it does ... I'm just a very superficial guy who needs his audience!

Première: We're all looking for recognition..
RP: Exactly. I want people to think I'm cool (laughs.) That said, something new happened to me after 'Cosmopolis'. It was the first time I felt deeply convinced that the movie I played in was a total success. If someone would say something bad about it, I knew they were wrong. when as usual I would say: "There's this and this that I like but okay, whatever!"

Première: The problem now is you're going to suffer if your next projects don't measure up with this one.
RP: And it's not an easy task let me tell you. Nowadays, I feel like the Hollywood industry only has one goal: force you to make shit. The system turns everything it touches as a dud. Thankfully there's a small group of directors that resist but they're forced to evolve on the fringe.
It's a miracle they manage to survive. I'm thinking of guys like Harmony Korine in particular who I find extremely brilliant. He showed me his new movie 'Spring Breakers' this summer and I loved it. I don't want to jinx him but I feel like it can be a huge success.
It's with directors like him that I want to work, people who spent their life refusing to compromise no matter the price. If you look at it closely, it's often those who have the longest career. There's the safest investments on the market!

Première: You still haven't answered my first question: what changed in you at the end of those 5 years of 'Twilight'?
RP: Wasn't I talking about this right now?

Première: Unless you just turned into Hamony Korine, no....
RP: I don't think I've changed that much to be honest.

Première: How do you feel when you see a picture of you from the first 'Twilight'
RP: I don't recognize myself. You have to know one thing, my memory only work for the last two years. I feel like I'm forgetting everthing gradually, maybe because I focus a lot on the future. It might be why I didn't end up completely insane because I was thinking of what's next. I rarely analyze the past for the simplest and good reason that I don't remember it. (laughs). There's no point judging what's behind you. There will always be someone who did better than you. It's better to focus on what you're gonna do to be better than them/these people.

Première: If you could go back to 2007, what would you say to this young actor who was about to sign on for five 'Twilight'?
RP: Four at that time and in my head I was only signing for one movie because I was certain the sequels would not never get made.

Première: What advice would you give to him?
RP: None. The most important, when all is said and done, is to be able to keep the enthusiasm that pushed you into this profession, and to not land on a stage by walking backwards. So yeah, you sulk when you end up suddenly robbed from your private life. I went through a big time of depression between 23 and 25, I couldn't go where I wanted to go, I was in the tabloids every day and I didn't have access to the roles I really wanted. I wanted more, on every level. I finally realised that you needed to earn this change I so desperately wanted. That one way or another, you had to suffer to be able to make it. I thought everything was going to be served on a plate but that's not how it works. When Cronenberg offered 'Cosmopolis' to me, I never read anything as interesting for years. I saw Kristen leave to film 'Snow White and the Huntsman', Taylor was also doing his thing on the side, and I was just going in circles, asking myself if I was going to take a break and go back to music. Then one day David called and I went crazy.

Première: That's what you should tell Rob of 2007. "One day you'll work with Cronenberg. Be patient."
RP: (Laughs.) Exactly. It's a funny job, seriously. I sometime feel like I've been spending some of my career on the edge of a bridge, ready to jump, until someone held me back. I'm exaggerating of course but sometimes it's hard to evolve in an environment where everything is so uncertain.
I hate that I've waited so long to try getting meetings with directors I admire, like Harmony Korine who I mentioned earlier. I wouldn't dare approach them because I felt like I needed more experience first, but I realize today, after talking with them, that they're very open. Everyone wants to work and this little power I have now due to 'Twilight' helped me make those collaborations a reality. I have a series of projects really exciting coming up.

Première: Like 'The Rover', David Michôd's second feature film....
RP: 'Animal Kingdom' is one of the first, most stunning movie that I've seen in a while. When I met David for the tests, I really felt there was something special and his script is just genius. I've never been really good during my auditions, so I can tell you that I've prepared this one like I've never done before. It lasted no less than 3 hours and it was epic. You should have seen the number of actors who came for the casting... everyone wanted the role. When I found out I got it, I was so proud I almost opened a twitter account to list all the actors I beat. (laughs)

Première: You've mentioned working with Cronenberg again...
RP: I hope. We talked about a few projects together, one being about child stars in Hollywood. The script is really funny and dark at the same time. In any case, David knows that he only has to pick up the phone and I'll be there. I would do anything for him.

In 5 years, you went from complete unknown to a huge star. How did you take it in?
RP: Despite everything, I feel like people still don't know who I am and it's might be a good thing. Sometimes when I meet directors, they end up telling me at the end of the meeting: "This isn't what I was expecting." I hold back asking them: "What were you expecting really?" The tiny bit of success you get in this industry is exceptional and the one from 'Twilight' clearly helped me open many doors. I know that the entusiasm can die down very easily too so I'm planning the future with caution.

Première: If everything stopped tomorrow, how would you take it?
RP: It depends on what you mean by "everything". If 'Twilight' never happened I would be trying out for the same roles I'm trying to get today. Only my chances of getting them would clearly be lower. Thankfully, the directors I dream of working with do not hire actors because their statut would get them an extra budget of 5 millions. They choose you becaus they think you're good. Regarding popularity, that would have been awesome 12 years ago before the smartphones and TMZ. At the time of 'Titanic', Leonardo Dicaprio wasn't followed constantly by a dozen of cameras. He looked like he was having fun, hanging out with the Wu-Tang Clan... Now you can't step a foot outside without wondering which compromising picture will be published the next day. You fastly become paranoid. One time I almost threw myself on some people, convinced they were following me to take pictures... they didn't even have a camera. They weren't the fans I thought they were. (laughs.)

Première: What do you think people will think of 'Twilight' in 10 years?
RP: The saga was constantly attacked over the years, sometimes unfairly. Not that it's comparable but noboby ever reacted that violently towards the Backstreet Boys at that time (laughs)! The amount of hate thrown at 'Twilight' is unbelievable. I feel like the last chapter will be better received. It was really made for the fans, it's almost like a love letter to them. The movie is funny, very tender and doesn't unnecessarily lean on the supernatural aspect to drawn in boys or an audience that isn't his. It's why it'll be better liked. Bill Condon showed us a first rough cut back in April, right before we did some reshoots and I like the way the movie link itself with all the previous films. It comes full circle in a touching way.

Première: I meant the saga as a whole and its impact on pop culture...
RP: 'Twilight' managed to unite an audience that was unknown until now and one that studios didn't know how to capitalize on. The saga opened a road that can be fun to explore. I'm sure there's smart ways of recreating that feeling that drew fans to 'Twilight' in other people. I'm thinking about it right now, it's my audience after all!

Βγήκε & η μετάφραση απ'τη συνέντευξη της Kristen στο Premiere

After playing this character for 5 movies, Kristen Stewart is clear: Bella Swan is now in the past. Confessions in the form of an assessment on this very special experience.

PREMIERE: How do you feel on the eve of the release of this final chapter?

KRISTEN STEWART: ItΆs strange… I feel the same thing every time I finish a movie, and itΆs not more intense with this last Twilight, probably because this character was mine for so long. I put as much work in each one of my roles, except that most of the time I have to say goodbye to them after five weeks. Ultimately, itΆs much more easier with Twilight: I spent so much time in that universe that I lived everything that had to be lived through this experience. I have a real feeling of accomplishment. There are a few movies for which I would have loved to go back and shoot more scenes after it ended, but not here. ItΆs over and done with. ItΆs behind me. IΆm ready to move on.

PREMIERE: Except that weΆre talking about five years instead of the usual five weeks… ItΆs almost like quitting your job.

KRISTEN: LetΆs not forget that we didnΆt shoot them one after the other. I havenΆt only done that for five years, thankfully. That interview would have been totally different otherwise. I got to be in other movies between each different Twilight ones. That said, I wouldnΆt have minded shooting them all in one go, but itΆs impossible in terms of production. If I hadnΆt worked in between each movies, I would have gone crazy. Therefore, I look back on this experience as a whole, but not as a chapter of my life, in the sense that those five years werenΆt only dedicated to Twilight. The series brought a lot of things to me, professionally speaking. I am at a point in my carreer where IΆm given the opportunity to challenge myself as an actress. And IΆm lucky these days to be able to pick these roles, which is a rare luxury, IΆm conscious of that.

PREMIERE: How has this experience changed you as an actress and as a person?

KRISTEN: When I feel a new or really strong emotion in my daily life, it helps my acting. I tell myself: “I need to remember this to use it later for a role.” I probably sound crazy by saying that but whatever. If I learned one thing during those five years, thanks to Twilight and other movies I made, itΆs that itΆs a good thing to be scared when youΆre about to start a new project. I found a certain comfort in this anxiety that overwhelms you before shooting a movie, because I know that the best performances, the most authentic, are born from this. Now, I need a role that intimidates me. What changed in me as a person is very similar, the lines are blurred. Even though thereΆs no creative result, I do the same thing in my daily life than when IΆm working: I Ask questions, all the time, before realizing that they donΆt necessarily have an answer.

PREMIERE: Your emotions nourish your work, but is it the same the other way around? Are there certain roles that had an impact on your life?

KRISTEN: Sometimes, some scenes from a script will help you reveal things about yourself, yes. And it can be a real shock. In the same way, making a movie will help you bring to the surface qualities that you didnΆt even know were in you in the first place, buried really deep inside. IΆve faked emotions, for example, that I had never felt before. And when I finally felt them, I told myself: “Ah, so thatΆs what it feels like…” It will, again, probably seem weird to you, and maybe I shouldnΆt reveal that much, but I had never really kissed a boy before I did it in a movie. And when it happened “for real”, I told myself: “Wait, itΆs my first kiss but IΆve already kissed someone in a movie.” So strange.

PREMIERE: Interesting…

KRISTEN: I know right…? (laughing)

PREMIERE: Do you sometime find yourself looking at pictures from the first Twilight? What do you see when you look at them?

KRISTEN: Me when I was 17.. (laughing) I often ask myself what my points of reference would be if I hadnΆt been an actress, but the different stages of my life are marked by movies, and that our key experiences often happen on the set of a movie. Also, I spent my 18th birthday at the end of the first Twilight, a very important moment, especially in the life of a young woman. I remember it like it was yesterday.

LA TIMES INTERVIEW

Breaking Dawn The Movie -Part 2 - Σελίδα 16 La-1109625-ca-1101-breakingdawn-4-rcg

Even after all this time, author Stephenie Meyer, the Mormon mother of three who became an overnight literary sensation with the 2005 publication of her young-adult novel "Twilight," can't explain the phenomenon that surrounds the grand romance between vampire Edward Cullen and human teenager Bella Swan, characters played on-screen by Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart.

"I don't know what makes people love it, I don't know what makes people hate it," said Meyer, seated comfortably in a suite of a Beverly Hills hotel. "But I do know that the feeling of being in love is a good feeling. We want to feel that emotion."

"I've always said that," Stewart said to Meyer, sitting beside her. "It's so vicarious. It's not like you are watching two people or reading two people. You feel like you are doing it. It's rare."

There's no question that "Twilight" is that rare gem: a book and movie property that stokes a kind of unquenchable fire among its largely female fan base. That following has been so sizable and so fervent that the "Twi-hards," as they're called, have helped transform Meyer's supernatural tale into a $2.5-billion business, proving that girl-centric tales can be powerful forces at the box office.

With the fifth and presumably final big-screen entry, "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 2," due to arrive in theaters Friday, Meyer and Stewart seem to share a bond reminiscent of the connection between Meyer's two protagonists.

Their closeness stems from the unlikely duo's joint goal of ensuring that the beloved material, for all its melodrama, remained intact as it was translated to the big screen. That required them to battle nervous studio executives who wanted Stewart's interpretation of Bella to be less tortured, hardened detractors who railed against overwrought story lines and pop culture satirists who often turned the franchise into its own punch line.

Meyer had already made the leap from Arizona housewife to bestselling author when she first met Stewart, then an up-and-coming actress building her career primarily through roles in indie films. In the intervening years, Meyer's stature and influence as a young-adult author became comparable to that enjoyed by J.K. Rowling or Suzanne Collins, though critics never responded to her writing the way enthusiastic readers did.

Stewart, however, has garnered plenty of acclaim — if not in the often tepidly reviewed "Twilight" movies, then in small challenging roles in films such as Sean Penn's "Into the Wild" or Walter Salles' upcoming adaptation of the Beat Generation classic "On the Road." She's also endured a tabloid celebrity she never planned for thanks to her on-again, off-again relationship with "Twilight" costar Pattinson.

Reaching the end of the saga was particularly satisfying for the actress, who seemed pleased to be able to take Bella to the happy if somewhat complicated conclusion of her journey — and to move on to the next phase of her career.

"I'm so ready to be done," said the 22-year-old.

A changed Bella

Directed like its predecessor by Oscar winner Bill Condon, "Breaking Dawn — Part 2" begins with Bella Swan as a newborn vampire and a new mother, whose half-human daughter, Renesmee, threatens to spark a war among various tribes of vampires from around the globe. The ruling class in Italy, the Volturi, wrongly assume that Bella and Edward have transformed a human child into a vampire, something that is expressly forbidden, and gather forces to take down the entire Cullen clan.

The story line gave Stewart the opportunity to bring a new dimension to a character who'd always considered herself ordinary and clumsy; with her supernatural powers, she could be graceful and beautiful, lightning-fast and lethal.

"I played her as human for so long, so the enhanced version of her made so much sense to me," said Stewart, her long limbs folded under her on the couch. "Everything so perfectly fit that I was so amped to do it."

Meyer recalled standing in front of the monitor on the set of the film when Stewart shot her first scene as vampire Bella, nervously anticipating the outcome.

"We were dancing by the monitors — 'Look at her go,'" Meyer said as Stewart pretended to leave the room, not wanting to hear the compliment. "It was such a huge weight lifted. It wasn't a different character. It was Bella, but it was a totally different Bella. It was so exciting."

Her newfound abilities also might help to dispel notions that Bella is too passive a character, a young girl too dependent on her boyfriend as a source of her happiness — though Meyer and Stewart flatly reject that view.

"Flop the roles. If Bella was a vampire and Edward was the human and you changed nothing but the genders, none of that criticism would exist," said Stewart. "It would be 'Wow, he just laid everything on the line for her. It's so amazing, and it must take such strength to subject yourself to that.' Also, the relationship is entirely equal."

"She gets what she wants," Meyer added.

"Plus, she's the one that keeps the bus going the entire time," continued Stewart. "If it was up to Edward, they would have given up at the first movie."

A new ending

The 700-page-plus "Breaking Dawn" novel was released just a few months before director Catherine Hardwicke's adaptation of "Twilight" reached theaters in 2008. The book was met with controversy, even among Meyer's loyal fans. Renesmee's birth is an especially gruesome sequence — one that Condon had to carefully navigate for the previous PG-13-rated movie — and some readers complained about Bella's choice to carry the child to term despite obvious risks to her own health.

There was also grumbling about an ending that felt too soft, too anticlimactic.

"I had a lot of concerns about making 'Breaking Dawn' a movie," said Meyer, who holds final approval on the scripts for the "Twilight" films. "There were a lot of things they wanted to change. There were some serious problems."

Fealty to source material on beloved properties like "Twilight" is always a concern — deviate too much from the book and fans, even those who maybe weren't wild about what was on the page initially, will cry foul. But it was Meyer herself and screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg, who has written each of the five scripts for the films, who devised a new ending over dinner one night in Vancouver while the second "Twilight" movie, "New Moon," was filming.

Of course, neither Meyer nor Stewart will reveal the new conclusion, but Meyer believes the solution is one fans will embrace. She and her star are somewhat less reserved in their elation for the digital trickery used for Renesmee, who in the book is born the size of a normal baby but whose unusual parentage results in rapid growth. (The character is played in the film by 12-year-old actress Mackenzie Foy.)

Stewart was initially asked to hold a robotic doll instead of a real baby for some scenes, but that approach didn't yield quite the right result.

"It was the most creepy, horrific horror doll you've ever seen — and it was mechanical," Meyer said with a laugh. "It's gouging her cheek and sticking to her hair. We reshot the whole thing. We didn't wind up using any of the footage, but that doll was so horrifying. I mean that doll comes to life and kills people."

"They should have had a real baby," Stewart said. "I really missed having a real baby. They were the scenes I looked forward to the most, and then I had this thing. It was really disheartening."

Instead, the filmmakers employed some techniques David Fincher and his team pioneered for "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," projecting Foy's face on older and younger girls as the script required.

Life after 'Twilight'

Stewart and Meyer are ready for "Twilight" to come to a close. Its years of pop culture dominance have taken a toll on the women, particularly Stewart, who appears resigned to the glaring spotlight, though no more comfortable with it.

The two discussed the public's desire to put celebrities on pedestals only to knock them down and the reality of the 24-hour news cycle as the mechanism that's destroyed the mystery of the movie star.

Stewart compared the need-to-know frenzy to the public wanting another movie, one played out in magazines, on the radio and on television, based on the actors' real lives. Things turned especially personal for Stewart last summer.

"People are just going to write the movie version of your life and consume it the way they please. I get the inclination to be entertained by that as well, so go for it. Have at it. Take it. Take it," Stewart said, pulling at her cashmere sweater. "But you knew nothing about my relationship before. You know less now. How could you?"

Meyer sympathizes with Stewart's plight. Until the teenage stars came along, the author, a self-described introvert troubled that people felt that they knew her without ever having met her, was the one in the eye of the storm.

For Meyer, life after "Twilight" will involve more movies — Open Road will release writer-director Andrew Niccol's adaptation of her novel "The Host" in March, and she recently produced her own indie film, "Austenland," based on her friend Shannon Hale's novel.

Stewart is moving on as well. She just signed on to join Ben Affleck in the lighthearted film "Focus," in which she'll play a woman who falls for a veteran con-man.

Meyer said new tales set in the "Twilight" universe continue to rumble in her head, but she's not sure she's willing to write them down and reignite the firestorm of publicity and attention.

"The stories are there. I'm just not sure I'd want to get into the hurricane again," Meyer said. "Maybe on my death bed I'll gather everybody around and tell them what happens: who dies, who turns into a bad guy. And then I'll breathe my last breath and be done."

"What a perfect way to end it," Stewart added.
